Today, June 7th, as we vote in the California Primary, Hilary Clinton makes history as the first woman to get this far in the race for President of the United States. In an unusual primary race, to say the least, this major historical milestone takes an awkward back seat to the latest outrageous commentary across the nation, which makes me sad frankly.

Don’t want to review the latest discourse, nor do I want to make this a history lesson, but I would like you to take a moment today to reflect on why it has taken the US so long to have a woman this close to holding this leadership position. You know that we fall behind the rest of the world in female leaders, which is a strange reality considering our seemingly open playing field for women in our society.

Just take a moment today to think about the women you know who work around you in positions of service. Think through the critical contributions they make to serve your community and to improve your environment. Women excel in positions of leadership in service to the greater good. Historically they are service champions.

It’s time.
